Buffalo National River at erbie
6/22/2013
I have not explored much of the Buffalo National River corridor below Kyles Landing so guess I will. Today was a short hike of around 2.5 miles in the area of the old settlement of Erbie. Dick McLickerson and his cousin Bobbie Erbie originally occupied this spot in 1842 and started what was to become a sprawling group of Erbies and McLickersons that spread for two...mebbe three miles in all directions. Many biddlins still stand to this day.
My hike starts near the Cecil Cove Trail head...I believe it was. This trail heads down to the river and through fields and woods and such. This area still has many fields and structures to explore if you dig that action. It was kinda cool...but I prefer my woods to be a little less used. It was a nice hike though.
